There’s no build up. There’s no ‘maybe she’s not queer we could be friends’ stuff it’s just straight up ‘romance’ (pun intended)
They saw Bellamy and Clarke and got that idea. Even if they have no romantic chemistry, the straights can see it that way because of how tv is and they’re gonna continue wanting it because they’ll always root for themselves rather than representation.
Where’s that post about the childcare covered raisins and white vs black characters because that seems applicable to queer vs straight rn.

if i’m being honest, Clarke and Lexa had actual build up. From the episode that Lexa first met Clarke (Season 2, Episode 7) to the episode where they kissed (Season 2, Episode 14) 7 episodes had passed. After those 7 episodes there was one kiss and it was soft and gentle, it was not rough, forced, or sexualized.
Now compare that to Raven and Wick, who are admittedly very different from Clarke and Lexa. Raven and Wick only had two episodes together the whole season and very minimal interaction. Still, Wick and Raven end up having sex the same episode Clarke and Lexa kiss.
I’m not an expert but I think that two episodes of interaction and then sex between two characters, who have little chemistry, is more sexualized than 7 episodes of interaction and what could(and is) viewed as a relationship arc.
Miller and his boyfriend are a different story. Yes they are canonically together, but you have to remember that they have already had their reunion. They have had time together off screen and have settled in to the healthy relationship they presumably already had. For them, they’re comfortable enough to just hug goodbye and not have to kiss.
It’s not oversexuaization, it’s about how comfortable you are with someone. With Clarke and Lexa it took them a little over a week to get that comfortable, Miller and his boyfriend have had even more time than that. They will get their kiss but there is nothing rushed about them and a kiss is not necessary in their first episode with interaction.
Did this have to be said? no, but i felt like attempting to point it out.
